2015 Turtle Trot: February Post

Here's my progress on my Turtle Trot pieces! It's been a bit of a crazy month what with college and all. I always let myself have a stitch-a-thon on Friday nights though! I haven't worked much on these pieces this month - I have a start from the end of January that's been my main focus, Bookworm Fairy. I've also had pneumonia, which has been taking away from my stitching time.

A VERY late IHSW update

Hello all! I made lots of progress on Santa's Village over IHSW, and I had every intention of posting on that Monday.... but I just felt so miserable! And then there was a flurry of discoveries and doctors. *deep breath* So I almost definitely have fibromyalgia. I'm torn between the misery of having chronic pain for the rest of my life and the joy of having a name for my multitude of symptoms. I'm not crazy, it's not in my head, and other people have the same pain I do. It's comforting. And kinda scary. Anyway, on to the stitching!

Here's Blushing Rose:
LOTS of pink. I'm enjoying this piece. :)

 And here's Santa's House:
Yep, it's so close to being finished that I can taste it. I finished the cross stitches on Sunday, March 17th. Then I spent fifteen minutes teaching myself how to make French knots (see scrap fabric in bottom right of picture) and proceeded to make Santa's eyes. Then I didn't touch the piece for a week and have yet to finish the other French knots. Sometime soon, though, I'll finish this up and start Poinsettia Place! (So excited!!!)

Pretty Colors!

After spending a few days in bed with a migraine, it feels wonderful to be up and moving again! I'm still not doing great, but I can stitch again, so I'm happy. :) We got new internet on Friday, so now hopefully I can read all the lovely blog posts I've missed due to internet that only worked every once in a while. :D

I've made some good progress since my last post, all things considered:

Lizzie*Kate's "You Have Stolen My Heart"

"Blushing Rose"

I love the colors I've been stitching with, don't you? :)

Happy stitching!

Last Week's Stitchy Goodness

I had a most wonderful long weekend! :) My family went on a whirlwind trip to Myrtle Beach, leaving Friday morning and coming back Saturday night. My dad ran the marathon (his second one!) and I made him this real quick last Thursday to celebrate (my first attempt at designing something!):

I call it "It's Just Like Running."

He always says "it's just like running" and then goes into a long metaphor for life based on running, haha. :)

We also went in the ocean (it was coooold!) and drove back through a pretty hardcore snowstorm. It was practically a whiteout for a while, and the roads weren't salted, and there were a few inches of snow sticking on the road! Luckily we found a truck and joined someone from Ontario and someone from Maryland in its tracks, and we made it back safely. Tons of people had skidded off the road, and everyone was going super slow on the interstate with their hazards on. Sadly, it didn't snow where we live, so we didn't get to really play in it. :( Oh well, we got to see snow!!

Then on Monday I spent the day with my wonderful boyfriend. :) We had a delightful time, and I got to introduce him to The Princess Bride! Such an amazing movie.

Here's last week's stitching:

A bit of progress on "Blushing Rose."

Going to be a late Valentine's present for my boyfriend.

Happy stitching!

Blushing Rose Progress

I'm back! It feels like I've been off Blogger for a thousand years, but it's only been a week. By the number of posts I have to catch up on reading, it could be much more than a week, haha. :) Oh, I am so glad to be feeling a bit better! I couldn't cross stitch or get on my computer or anything - including knitting lessons - for a week. It was agony. Three of those days were spent lying as still as possible in a dark room without any sleep happening. Enough unhappiness though - I started feeling much better last night and managed to stitch a bit! Here's my progress:

Haha, does it look like a rose yet? The random ladybug that was in my room and flew onto it while I was stitching seems to think so. :)

I have been reading so much of Northanger Abbey lately, by Jane Austen, and I am loving it!! I'd totally recommend it, to anyone who happens to be looking for a good book to read. It's fun and witty and engaging. I love it!

A couple weeks ago I got a super cheap thread organizer thing because it was driving me crazy to dig through a huge pile of threads to find the right one. Loving this organization!! The winding of thread around bobbins is also very enjoyable for my OCD self. :)

My birthday is on Friday!! :) Just had to announce that. I'm pretty excited. Haha, obviously. And I am totally dragging my boyfriend with me to see Warm Bodies, just because. :D

Time to catch up a bit on reading everyone's lovely blog posts and seeing all their lovely stitching! :)

CJC 2013 Days 2-5

First, here's some more progress on my January 1st start, Sanctuary Shells. I've been having ill luck with cross stitch lately, including breaking this needle! Apparently I don't know my own strength, haha. :)

Here's a bit more ill luck, on "Blast Off!" This is my January 2nd start, and I have not yet gathered the will to deal with the one green stitch that is out of place and must be fixed. The farthest green stitch down, next to the newly worked blue stitching, should shift right one block. Oops.

Here's my January 3rd start, "Fabulous Feather," from the January 2013 issue of the Cross Stitch and Needlework Magazine.

Here's my January 4th start, "Blushing Rose," from the October 2012 issue of Cross Stitch Collection. Alas, more ill fortune! Apparently this ought to be stitched three over two, not two over two. I need to do some frogging on this piece, too.

But my ill fortune lifted! On January 5th, I started this Chrismon, the "Lamp." (You know, Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path, and all.) I started and finished stitching this piece during the Cincinnati vs. Houston game yesterday. It was delightful! My mom had supplies and such for tons of Chrismons given to her by her mom, which she let me use. :)

Happy stitching!
