2015 Turtle Trot: April Post

I've only made progress on one of my Turtle Trot pieces this month, but I managed to finish it! That's my second Turtle Trot finish this year (the first was the Love bookmark). I've decided not to replace the finished pieces with different ones in this list, so I can watch my original list of 10 shrink down and feel successful. :)

1. Tardis 3D: None
2. Blushing Rose: None
3. Santa's Village: None
4. Dream: None
6. Sing: None
7. Favorite Pony: Finished!!!

8. Everything is Possible: None
9. Woodland Winter: None
10. Snowman and Friends: None

I bought a frame for Favorite Pony, which will be a gift for one of my best friends, over Easter break, but I didn't have time to frame it. Next time I'm home, I'll wash/iron/frame it and show y'all. I'm pretty happy with the $6.99 frame I found at Michael's. :)

Happy stitching!

Favorite Pony: Finished!

Yes, that's right, I've had a finish - and just in time for a new month! Yay! Now I've had at least one finish each month so far this year, which is completely crazy. Let's see if I can keep it up in April!

In other news, I am officially going to be a counselor at a Christian camp, Lutheridge, this summer! Yay!! I really feel like this is what God is calling me to do this summer, and I am so excited! Only downside - I won't get to do any stitching. It'll be so worthwhile though!

But I'm digressing. Back to my finish -

Started January 8, 2013
Finished March 31, 2015

If you take out all of the time I spent completely ignoring this piece, I think it took me less than a month to stitch. But I started it as part of the Crazy January Challenge in 2013 and did not touch it after that day until this year! Then I picked it up in January for a truly dedicated week before I went back to school, and then I worked on it for the second half of this month. It feels great to finish this piece!!

Happy stitching, and may finishes be in your future!

March 2015 TUSAL

Here are my ORTs for the month!

And here are all my ORTs from my 2.5 years of stitching! :) I'm going to need to start squishing them down soon!

And here are two of the pieces I've been working on!

Started January 8, 2013

I'm hoping to finish Favorite Pony by the end of the month. It'll be a little tough since I don't get all that much time to stitch, but I think there's hope! I've also gotten a little further than this picture shows.

Happy stitching!

I actually did some work on Favorite Pony this week, starting on Monday. Here's where it was when I started:

Here it is at the end of Monday night:

And here it is at the end of Tuesday night:

And at the end of Wednesday night:

End of Thursday night:

Oh, how I wish I could keep up this progress when I head back to college (which is happening tomorrow). Stitching is a rare treat at school, whereas at home I can settle down on the couch and watch seven hours straight of Lord of the Rings documentaries while stitching. Still, this was a good start to the Turtle Trot, and I'm feeling really inspired to get back to working on several of these pieces which haven't been touched since the Crazy January Challenge in 2013!

Happy stitching!

CJC 2013 Days 8-11 and TUSAL

The craziness continues, with days 8 through 11 of the Crazy January Challenge.

Favorite Pony
January 8, 2013
I am loving stitching Favorite Pony! The effect of the black Aida is so different, I love it.

Shell Collection
January 9, 2013
I know, a bit of a pitiful start on Shell Collection. I was feeling particularly poorly that day.

Celtic Cross
January 10, 2013
I think I'm enjoying these Chrismons too much, I just keep going back to them. They're so simply and pretty and quick and I'm still in the Christmas spirit, I guess. :)

Crown of Thorns and Nails
January 10, 2013 - January 11, 2013
And another one!

Shell
January 11, 2013
Last one, I promise. I'm out of 14 ct. Aida and have no money. I'll probably have this one finished by later this evening, but I wanted to go ahead and do an update. :) I finished Crown of Thorns and Nails and began this one while rewatching A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Wonderful movie, especially interesting after taking (most of) a course on Roman Comedy last fall. I see a lot of Andria and Casina in the movie, which is fun. :)

And now a TUSAL update, the first one of the year! Lots of stitching has been done already. Mostly Chrismons - all that gold thread. :) I put my little cut up Dasani water bottle beside my journal. I have written in this journal every day for seven weeks - my medical leave thus far. It's a wonderful habit by this point. The cover has a lovely reminder, too, especially when lots of things aren't going according to plan.
