I'd been meaning to learn for a while... So one weekend I thought, why not now? I bought some hooks and grabbed some yarn I had lying around...
And learned how to crochet!
Now I officially have a new obsession, as of Friday, November 7, 2014. Thank you,
Bella Coco of Youtube. I jumped right in with granny squares, learning how to chain and such along the way.

These looked reasonably average-sized. |

My first attempt was less than square... |

But my second attempt went much better! |

They're even somewhat close to being the same size! |
My total is now at twenty-four, with another on the way. I guess I'm just going to connect them all into a giant wonky green blanket? For now though, I'm content to enjoy the rhythm of crocheting a simple granny square. :)
I've been meaning to get back on the crochet hook. My mom sent me a book and hooks last year. I want to make a granny square throw. I will have to save that link. You are doing great. Can't wait to see how you decide to finish it. :)
ReplyDeleteFair play to you!! It looks great!!
ReplyDeleteI want to learn to crochet too as I absolutely would love to make my own granny blanket... problem is, not enough hours in the day for stitching... let alone crochet!!!
Maybe I will try during a loooong holiday :)
Hi Katie
ReplyDeleteLovely crochet and stitching x
Oh wow, good for you! I tried learning how to crochet early this year, but very quickly realized that my brain didn't work that way. I'm going to stick to knitting :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job on the crochet. I have a tendency of crocheting too tight, which I'd usually why mine don't turn out very square. Practice makes perfect. :-)
